What is Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy?
People who struggle with the look of dark spots or sun damage on their skin may be excellent candidates for intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy at Dolly Vita Aesthetics in Trafalgar, IN. An IPL photofacial is a skin rejuvenation treatment for hyperpigmentation problems on the neck and face. Our technicians use intense wavelengths of light energy to ignite the natural healing process and boost the production of collagen. As the added nutrients take effect, you should begin to notice a healthier appearance, a more even tone, and fewer dark spots. Even though IPL is a noninvasive treatment option, it can be very effective and can create impressive results for your complexion. Our team uses Harmony XL PRO technology from Alma Lasers to perform IPL skin treatments and can provide a skin analysis to see if this solution can help you reach your skin goals.

How much does IPL cost?
Your complexion issues are unique, so the cost of IPL therapy will be dependent on your specific goals. At Dolly Vita Aesthetics, we accept an array of payment methods. During your first visit, we can estimate your cost and recommend the number of visits needed to match your goals.
How quickly will I see results from intense pulsed light therapy?
Some skin improvements can usually be experienced after one treatment with Harmony XL PRO IPL technology, but optimal results are apparent a month after your last treatment. It’s common for you to see different responses following each treatment. You will likely experience a fading of blotchiness, redness, age spots, and sun spots as time goes on.
What are the possible side effects of IPL?
It's common to experience some minor, temporary side effects, such as redness, swelling, blisters, crusting, or bruising. This should fade in a few days. The treated areas will be extra sensitive to the sun, and you should keep in mind that excessive exposure to damaging UV rays can affect your results. You should also wear sunscreen to help prevent skin problems, including redness and sun spots.
Do I need to prep for intense pulsed light therapy?
Patients about to undergo an IPL treatment are typically asked to avoid sun exposure and self-tanners for at least 2 – 4 weeks before their treatment. You may be asked to discontinue the use of minocycline, tetracycline, doxycycline or Retin-A/Renova a few days before each treatment, and we may recommend that you avoid taking blood thinners and anti-inflammatory medications for one week before your procedure to help prevent bruising. You should also protect the treated areas with sunscreen between treatments.
Why should I get multiple IPL sessions?
Multiple IPL sessions are better to produce natural-looking improvements to your complexion. Every treatment will help to reduce areas of hyperpigmentation and sun spots. A series of treatments also produce longer-lasting aesthetic results.
